In contrast to Karen and Lorelei who portray stereotypical blonde bimbos, the protagonist in Legally Blonde, a comedic and inspiring movie published by Type A Film in 2001, defies the dumb blonde archetype by depicting a blonde hair female with both beauty and brain. Reese Witherspoon plays a ditzy sorority girl, Elle Woods, who is a bubbly, attractive, and Caucasian female with blonde hair. She is completely in love with her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, who soon breaks up with Elle stating that she’s “too blonde”. With impressive statistics of a 4.00 grade point average as a fashion design major and Law School Admission Test score of 179 out of 180, Elle is admitted into Harvard Law. Upon her arrival to the university, she is perceived as a joke because she doesn’t look like a typical lawyer in her pink jumpsuit. To prove to people who only responds to her with ridicule, Elle works extremely hard and lands one out of the four highly coveted internship prosecuting a highly publicized murder trial. The climax takes place in a courtroom where Elle is defending the murder suspect, Brooke, and cross-examining Chutney, the victim’s daughter, who asserts that Brooke killed her father. Elle questions Chutney about her whereabouts and activities the day her father was murder. Chutney claims that she went out to get a perm, got home, and got in the shower; therefore, she didn’t hear the gun shot sound.
