Not many people know that prostitution is legal in Canada, France, and Mexico regulated, or not (Liberator). Legalizing prostitution is a way for it to be regulated, and a clean business. Prostitution should be legalized because it would boost the economy, it lowers the rate of STDs, and make it safer in every way. Legalizing prostitution should be considered an option, especially when it could boost the United States economy. When prostitution is illegal, it usually just sparks the underground economy, and that is a major loss of money that the United States could be getting (Reyes). (Howard). Legalizing prostitution will help lower these STD rates just like in Nevada where it is legalized, and if that is the case than prostitutes and the consumers will be forced to practice safe sex, and the nation could save millions in battling AIDs or other STDs (Reyes). However STDs is not the only thing prostituted women are at risk of they are also at risk of Cervical Cancer and Chronic Hepatitis B (Fraley). It is estimated that this year 12,900 women in the United States are going to be diagnosed with Cervical Cancer (Cervical cancer). It is estimated that 4,120 deaths will occur from this disease this year (Cervical cancer). Chronic Hepatitis B attacks the liver and could cause both acute and Chronic disease (Hepatitis B). 240 million people are estimated to be chronically infected by hepatitis B, and more than 686,000 people die every year due to hepatitis B (Hepatitis B). It is for this reason that legalizing prostitution could provide many countries with an economic advantage, for it would decrease the unemployment rate in those countries. Due to recent job markets being extremely limited in terms of job opportunities, many individuals are being let off work, and are unable to find jobs because there is a decrease in available vacancies. Therefore, considering prostitution as a career choice is something many have being doing for quite some time now, and for good reason, for prostitution is quite the lucrative business. Hence, if prostitution were legitimized, the stigma of being a sex worker would slowly decrease, and eventually, people would feel more comfortable pursuing this line of work, and this in itself would lead to an increase in employment. Similarly, when discussing the stigma that those in prostitution face, it is important to mention that if the stigma faced by prostitutes is lifted, it might facilitate the transition of those in prostitution to other lines of work, which would lead to an expansion in the non-sex work labor…

One of the topic we discussed in our women and gender studies class is prostitution, which happens with both sexes but is filled with mainly women. Prostitution can be forced or it can be chosen. The two articles I am going to use in my essay are; “Getting Away With Hating It: Consent in the Consent of Sex Work” by Charlotte Shane and “Prostitute 'Nancy' Shares Her Story: 'You Can Lose Your Life If You're Out Here'” by Rachel Cook. Both articles contain real life accounts from actual prostitutes and the way they see their profession. I am going to use both in my argument that prostitution cannot be just like any other job and therefore should not be made legal or be legal where it is.…

Legalizing the sexual performances of this engagement can cause pimps, traffickers and the sex industry to be decriminalized in the justice system, and there would be an increase of general health problems for sex-workers in the industry. The legalization of prostitution would be a present wrapped with a bow to the pimps and traffickers who are doing it illegally in the streets currently.
