A plant found growing naturally, a gift given by God; that can be used to heal many people and bring major wealth to this country. Too bad this plant or drug; Marijuana, is illegal for medical use in Florida and many other states. Marijuana is a naturally grown plant and over the years research has shown more and more about the medicinal properties. The legalization of Medicinal Marijuana would have many effects on not only the health of many but also our economy.

Americans believe that marijuana should be legalized and used for medicinal healing and doctors should be able to prescribe marijuana if they believe it will help the patient. According to polls, fifty-six percent of Americans believe that if marijuana is legalized doctors should be able to prescribe it for treatment. Therefore most of America believes that marijuana should be legalized to help individuals with medical problems (Preface to "Effects of State Medical Marijuana Laws?"). According to many professional doctors, they also believe marijuana should be legalized. One even states that “weed as a rehabilitation, is a virtual wonder drug” (Marijuana). Other researchers say “Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant and emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors, and are neuroprotective” (NORML). In marijuana, the medical component that heals are called Cannabinoids. If you think about it why isn’t cigarettes and alcohol illegal? They kill more people than Marijuana does! Marijuana is far less dangerous than tobacco or alcohol “Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose” (NORML). Even the prestigious medical journal The Lancet states, “The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health” and reinforces the fact that legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco have proven to be much more dangerous. So there for Medicinal Marijuana should be legalized because it is not as bad as cigarettes and alcohol, which have no medical value what so ever they are just used to waste your life and money
