For all arguments given to legalize the drug, there are better alternatives and or reasons to not legalize the drug. Legalizing the drug (making it more obtainable) would create a social atmosphere where it is acceptable to have reduced functional and nervous activity, where it is acceptable to have hallucinations, where it is acceptable to show up to work unmotivated and sluggish because of reduced functional activity. Legalizing this drug would leave the government more vulnerable to fraud; in fact, the main beneficiaries of the legalization of this drug would be those who law enforcement try so hard to protect citizens from such as cartel members. Countries like Uruguay have learned that the legalization of Marijuana has led to chaos. The government should take that into account and learn from another country’s mistakes.
