Legalization Of Gender Neutral Bathrooms In The United States

In the twenty-first century, society has become more open-minded and tolerant to change and to ideas that are new or different from their own. For example, the controversy over whether same-sex marriage should become legal has been resolved and legalized in most of the U.S and will soon become licensed and recognized in other countries. Unfortunately, not everyone can accept this change, some still fight again the legalization of gay marriage. The relationship between the different types of genders, such as transgenderism, has become perplexing. Because of this, gender-neutral bathrooms are now a wave of modernization and are becoming a social issue to the world. According to Psychology, men are more “likely to have avoided such restrooms.” (Ph.D.) Men are more uncomfortable because there are some men who “‘feel’ like a woman and thereby use women’s bathrooms [as] a slippery slope [for] all types of these sexual crimes.” (Elizabeth Lee Vliet) The reason that men were more prone to avoid such bathrooms is because they would be falsely accused of being a sexual predator. They know how men think and they know that some men will use gender-neutral bathrooms to their advantage. Women are more susceptible to sexual assault. “Women ages 18-24…are 3 times more likely…to experience sexual violence.” (Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics) Therefore, women will refrain from using gender-neutral bathrooms. Due to the fact that people will start to avoid using gender neutral bathroom due to the discomfort and safety, having them in public spaces should be
