People look to euthanasia and PAS as quick alternative methods to accelerate the process of dying. However, euthanasia and PAS are illegal in most places. Hence, there are many arguments regarding legalization of euthanasia and PAS. Although, there are numerous positive and negative reasons regarding legalization, the cons outweigh the pros. The consequences of administering euthanasia and PAS affect not just the patient, but everyone involved during the process beginning from the moment the individual chooses this method. I think it will lead to a slippery situation from the initial decision to the actual administration. During initial decision process, if terminally ill patients are experiencing declining cognitive ability and cannot make the decision by themselves, they can be easily influenced by family members. Family members might not want to take care of them and bear the financial cost of long-term treatments can influence them to choose euthanasia and PAS. Also, family members might be looking out for monetary gain. The process also involve healthcare professionals and euthanasia and PAS counteract their roles in saving lives and place stress on them to fulfil these requests even if they do not agree with the decision.
