Driving is a tool. This tool could be an advantage to someone or a disadvantage. It could be used to drive to appropriate destinations such as, the market, school, a friend’s house, or just a drive around your local area. However, it could also be used for travelling to inappropriate locations such as, the bar or a nightclub. These inappropriate locations are common sites of travel among teens and young adults as their brains have not fully developed. This is because the part of your brain which controls impulses and mediates emotional responses is the last to develop and does not reach maturity until the early 20s. Likewise, driving is associated with illegal acts, especially among teens and young adults. The responsibility that comes with this freedom is incompetent as they would most likely be caught, one way or another. These acts include the intake of illegal drugs and alcohol. Teens and young adults could become under the influence by friends and find themselves taking the substance after 5 or 10 minutes. If they had a mature state of mind, they would tackle down peer pressure in haste, like most adults nowadays. All in all, restricting the freedom of an individual aged 16 to 21 by raising the legal driving age is a wonderful start as these individuals will not regret later on from their mistakes. In brief, driving is not a cup of tea for everyone. Some learn it effectively with maturity, while others require some time. Thus, facts prove that teens and young adults require this time to develop their maturity. Now is a time to save lives. Now is a time to train our young citizens of what is morally correct and to mention them about the hindrance to their mental growth. Now is a time to behave like role models for the next growing
