In 1973 abortion became legal, consequently there were no restrictions, it was deemed a human right. “In Roe, the Supreme Court found that a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her pregnancy deserves the highest level of constitutional protection.” (Abortion Roe History) While today a woman 's right to choose is protected by the US constitution, nevertheless each state puts on restrictions to make that difficult, (Gillbrand). States are passing legislation to decrease the likelihood of abortions taking place.
