ACL tears are fairly common in football and upon replay of the injury you can clearly see Cowl turn his body without turning his foot, resulting in the injury. The pop he felt was in fact a tear of the ACL, which could not withstand the stretch from his pivot and very much “popped off”. While these tests can easily detect injuries to the ACL, other tears or strains could be present without detection (Sexton). After an x-ray of his knee, it also became apparent that the MCL and medial meniscus were damaged as…

    Cruciate Ligament Case

Case Study #3 With the given information about the blow to the tibial tuberosity causing displacement of the tibia posteriorly relative to the femur, the structure most likely injured is the posterior cruciate ligament because it is located on the posterior side of the patella and posterior displacement of the tibia on fixed femur is restricted by the posterior cruciate ligament. The posterior cruciate ligament is the strongest ligament in the knee joint and helps with stability. Once the posterior cruciate ligament is torn or stretched, it loses its stability. There are many ligaments that make up the knee joint, also known as a hinge type joint which perform tasks such as flexion and extension. The tibiofemoral and patellofemoral are joints of the knee which aid in flexion and extension of the knee.…

Mostert clipped the wall at turn 16 through the esses and his Pepsi Max Falcon was then launched into the adjacent wall at high speed. The PRA Ford then bounced to the other side of the track again when it launched into the air collecting the Marshall post.…

In the United States, it is most common that intra-articular knee injury involves meniscal lesions which are present in most of surgical procedures performed by orthopedic surgeons [21,22]. Compared to women, men are more prone to such injuries, the incidence ratio of which is between 2.5:1 and 4:1 for a male to female. At 20-29 years of age, the overall incidence reaches the maximum for both sexes [23-25]. Injuries due to sport activities (football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and skiing in particular) are the most common causes of meniscal lesions in young patients. This amounts to more than 1/3 of all cases [23,24].…

Before I could start getting my strength back in my left leg, I would have to get the flexibility back first.…
