Lee Kuuan Yew: Chaarismatic And Transformational Leader In Singapore

The key element of a leader is to influence his or her followers to achieve the same goals. An effective leader is able to lead the whole team to reach success. To bring Singapore to an internationally recognized country, Lee Kuan Yew had been both charismatic and transformational leader. Charismatic leadership means having the ability to influence or motivate followers to do more than what they would normally do. Lee Kuan Yew was able to deliver his ideas to the people of Singapore through his behaviors, words and speeches. He wanted to transform Singapore from a poor country with only human resources to a strong economy and internationally recognized country. He managed to pass on his never say die spirit to the nation through his works. According to Lee Kuan Yew, he will get up even from the sick bed or in the grave if he feels something is wrong. Transformational leadership means that the leader seeks changes to status quo, creates a vision, implement and leads the transformation. Lee Kuan Yew was able to align his followers with his vision and led all Singaporeans to transform Singapore from a poor and weak country to a rich and strong country of today. …show more content…
As a Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew was a public servant who minded the interest of Singapore nation instead of his own. He wanted to serve and deliver the best to all Singaporeans. In addition, a servant leader must listen and pay attention to issues in order to understand the problems and situations and take the best actions. Lee Kuan Yew read through all suggestion letters that he received in the little red suggestion box. He was concerned of improving the welfare, health and education standards and the socioeconomic standards of all Singaporeans.
