Led Zeppelin's Accomplishments

Led Zeppelin is the first Led Zeppelin album, released in 1969. I love the whole sound of the album and I think it is the best Zeppelin album and started their amazing run of music in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I think the reason the album is so good is because the band is really just a collection of the most talented player of each respective instrument at the time. Jimmy Page, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant are each arguably the most talented player of their respective instruments (guitar, drums, bass, and vocals). It shows in their music, which is mostly rooted in the blues. Blues was very popular in England at the time, so the band used that style in their music. These include: women, love, heartbreak. They electrify these old blues songs by making them very loud and rocking, while still staying true to their original style. While they are sometimes quite loud, the album also contains a lot of folk music, as this was also a popular blues style. One particular example of the mixture of hard rock and folk blues that defines the album is on the song “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You”. The style of each musician is very loud and powerful. Robert Plant has a very high pitched wail for a man and uses it as an epic howl on their songs. His screaming is legendary in rock music. Jimmy Page was an extremely talented blues guitarists who had a talent for making up catchy riffs and playing fast solos. John Bonham was famous for his loud drumming that often used loud, coordinated triplets and rolls in his drum solos, a style which became popular in rock music after him. John Paul Jones was a talented multi-instrumentalist and bassist who could play bass solos and also was a very talented keyboardist, as heard on the song “You Shook
