In 2005 James was the youngest player to score over 50 points in one game. In just his second season he was on the NBA All-Start team, and would also be for many other seasons to come. While in 2006 LeBron helped the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Detroit Pistons it still wasn’t enough for the win. But, LeBron was still a leader in the NBA by receiving the Most Valuable Player in the 2006 All-Star Game. In the next season LeBron was able to lead the Cavaliers to in finally defeating the Pistons for the Eastern Conference trophy. The Cavaliers would lose in the championship to San Antonio, but it was the first time they had made it that far in many years thanks to LeBron. In the 2007-2008 season James carried the team to the semifinals, but were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the seventh game. But James was still an outstanding player individually, by having the highest average in the NBA regular season of 30 points per game. In 2004 he created the LeBron James Family Foundation to help children and single-parent families who are in need. His foundation has many programs including the Wheels for Education. This is a program where LeBron selects a group of third grade students to be apart of the Wheels for Education. These students begin their school year with a fun two-week technology camp, then throughout the school year the students receive support, incentives, and much encouragement to help achieve their journey to graduation. The next program is the I Promise Network for middle school kids in Akron Public Schools in Ohio. This a program that is one step up from the Wheels for Education and is specifically to cope with the needs for middle school students and prepare them for high school. Next is The LeBron Advisory Board from Akron Public Schools. This board is LeBron’s way of bringing families together to have the best Wheels for Education program possible. There are three labs, the lab elementary board is in charge of the Wheels for Education program. The second lab focuses on the Akron I Promise Network, and the community lab is in charge of the overall direction of each program and how well they work in the Akron community.
