How to Leave the House with Your Toddler Without Losing Your Mind As the parent of a toddler, I cannot tell you how often during my child’s three years of life I have dreaded leaving the house. The thought of getting myself, my toddler and all of our stuff prepared for an outing, whether it be a quick trip to the grocery store or a day trip to the zoo, was daunting. Actually doing it was a nightmare. I would find myself on the verge of a mental breakdown as I ran around the house frantically trying to gather our gear, while simultaneously trying to dress myself and my toddler. Hours later we would leave the house, only to find that I forgot the diaper bag in all the chaos. The temptation to hole myself up in my house forever was great. …show more content…
Upon waking, change her diaper or take her to the potty. Wash her hands.
The fourth step is to feed her breakfast. While she is eating, you can eat your own breakfast and begin cleaning up the breakfast dishes while you are waiting for your child to finish. Cleaning up the breakfast dishes isn’t essential to getting out of the house without losing your mind; however, it is always nice to return home to an empty sink after an outing.
Once you and the baby have finished breakfast, the fifth step is to wipe your toddler’s face and hands. Now is also a good idea to wipe down your child’s eating area and wash his breakfast dishes which, again, isn’t essential for getting out of the house, but you will be glad you did when you get home. After your toddler is all fed and cleaned up, the sixth step is to get her dressed. Brush her teeth, put her clothes on, comb her hair and put her socks and shoes on. This should only take about 15 minutes, even if you’re like me and forgot to put your child’s shoes with her outfit when you laid them out the night before and you have to search for them in the morning. The good news is, if you have followed the steps up to now and woke up at least two hours before you have to leave your house, you will still be on track to leave your house with plenty of

It was about 3:45 in the morning on a Sunday, where I found myself and my excited, wide-awake, good-looking boyfriend driving down a dark, eerie road to a hospital that was 61 miles away. Those 61 miles felt like light years to me I didn’t feel right all day today, I had a feeling deep down that my body was telling me that it was time. I was as nervous as I possibly could be, however, I had to remain completely calm because I could possibly be in labor and our first baby could arrive any time. So There I was, just Sitting there in that fast moving car, patiently waiting for the top of my big-ole belly to become super tight, tighter than a rubber band wrapped around your stomach 1000 times.…

A third potential way I see this article by Jessica Lahey relating to me is as a future. I may be young, but not too young to think about how my upbringing and temperament may impact my future parenting style. I think myself and others my age should take this piece and think about the magnitude of the advice the author is offering. I do not want to be the mom who puts her children at a disadvantage by never letting them stand on their own two feet. I have a strong maternal instinct and desire to protect.…

They did this so there was no conflict with school, and the adults had in advanced taken the time off of work. The day before we had packed all of the bags, including clothes, hygienic items, and swimwear. Then the next day we left early in the morning to get to my grandma's house at a decent time. Since she lives in Indianapolis it was about a three-hour drive, but because of traffic, it was a four and a half hour drive. During the drive, my little brother was not that much of a problem, until he pooped himself.…

Does your teenager wake feeling drowsy and powerless—repeatedly clicking the snooze button, and before you know it, they’re late for school? You’re not alone. Roughly 40% of American high schools are opening their doors before 8 a.m. People are debating whether starting school earlier is a good idea, or if it could interfere with other after-school clubs and sports. The benefits of schools starting later in the morning far outweighs these concerns, as it allows teens the necessary resting time which their developing bodies require, it makes life easier for parents in dealing with grumpy, sleep-deprived children, and it provides many notable health and academic benefits. The first supporting reason for pushing back the starting school bell is that it gives students more sleeping time, which they absolutely need to function at full capacity in school.…

I carried my bags to the front door so that they were very well visible. I had two totes, one velvet textured and green like fresh grass; and the other bright red and made of cloth. They weren't very big totes, but I managed to pack what I needed. I waited on the rest of my family for about half an hour. The excitement was building up inside, I was kinda getting flustered with my family for rushing me and then taking their precious time.…

Every morning I am up early, before anyone else in my household. Even before my husband, William, I let him sleep, he will wake up when he needs to. If I notice anyone heading outside to work and he's not up at that time, I will start worrying. For now, though I have to get the children's lunches, including his, ready, or they won't have lunch for the day. This is typical, wake up, pack lunch for my husband, and my two little girls, Evelyn and Marie.…

The Person I have chosen to write this forum on is my mother. I grew up in a home where her parenting style was very authoritative. This has strongly made an impact on my life and how I am perceived by my friends and others. My mother was very consistent with boundaries however; she was always open to discussion. My mother had furthered her education in child and family services and therefore, implemented many skills in our home.…

Before my niece Eira was born, I had no experience in being around babies. If one of my cousins offered for me to hold their baby, I usually would decline their offer. I had no idea how to hold a baby, change their clothes, or change a diaper. I didn’t have a lot of patience when being around younger children either. I never thought of having children when I get older, and I did not really want to have children.…

My concern is about the fact that the children are taken outside for more than 15 minutes in the cold, rainy or misty weather. Both my granddaughters have been attending the location in Morrisville since the beginning of October 2015. Those girls were never sick for more than 5 days, but have been sick since the third week of attending this center. Although I have no complaints about any of the teachers, they are loving and caring, I do feel that it is up to the adults to decide when the weather is favorable to let the children stay out for more than 15 minutes at a time. Yesterday, January 7, my younger granddaughter was outside for over 45 minutes in a 40 degree misty weather; that was despite the fact that I've called the Director and…

My First Time Babysitting It was a dark rainy Friday evening, school just let out for the weekend and I was free except I still had one thing to do left, as I was doing a weird walk jog across the campus while trying not to get soaked just to get to the main building, as my phone started to make this weird ringing noise and obviously I got a bunch of looks. When I looked at my phone I saw that my dad was calling me and when I answered my dad told me not to walk home in the rain and just wait it out. Once I got to the main high school building, I walked through the maze of hallways and lockers, and finally just finally I made it to the front of the building. It was still pouring down rain when I looked out of the window, by this time the storm was almost through…
