People in war times aren't having very good lives right now, they are losing a lot of things including people that they know and love. According to “Children of war” “ After I found out about my father’s death, everything seemed so useless, , I couldn't see any future for myself I wasn't the same person anymore (Brice 25). People in the war times are going through bad times and losing people they love, like a parent. In the novel Lai states, “ Father left home on a navy mission on this day 9 years ago when I was almost one” (Lai 12). “(Reporter) what are your lives like in the U.S. (Amelia) I like it better than being in refugee camps in croatia, here people don't judge you (Brice14). This means their lives are getting better, their lives in their country weren't good,but here in the U.S. they are good. The book states, two student’s run into class giggling, I firm my muscles ready for the giggling to explode into laughter, thrown at me, but instead smiles appear. Ha’s life is getting better because the kids in her class used to laugh at her but now they like her.
