50s TV Shows Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, and Dobie Gillis all have a lot in common. They are all from the 1950s, they are all in black and white, and they have similar plot lines. In Leave it to Beaver, Beaver’s brother Wally had a track meet to go to, but he did not have any transportation to get him there. Wally’s father agreed to let him and his friends take his car only if they drove straight there and back and did not have any extra passengers. The guy driving the car, Clarence, picked up Eddie, which was against one of Wally’s dad’s rules.
