On July 21st, 1969 the world received a baby girl that would one day become one of the most intriguing, amiable and hardworking fashion photographers to date. Born as an only child, Cheryl’s younger years were filled with great love from her parents and grandparents, along with loneliness due to her lack of siblings. This loneliness is what Cheryl says sparked her love for pets and more importantly her creativity. From training her Weiner dog Jake to run through the colorful jungle gyms of her neighborhood, to embellishing the walls of her childhood home with Crayola masterpieces of “the bunny people,” it is apparent that Cheryl’s creative mind was fostered as a young child. However, due to the “Leave It to Beaver” nature of her parents and the home they created for her, Cheryl’s artistic mind was not always praised and supported. …show more content…
As she set her hair with rollers and bathed in oodles of hairspray, she hit the town ready to take 8th grade for all that is was worth; only to be sent home later for wearing gold eyeshadow and then subsequently getting caught by her mother for wearing her precious clothes. As senior year of high school rolled around, Cheryl and her signature black beret went from smoking the occasional cigarette in the bathroom, to setting her sights on attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Despite the negative remarks from her high school art teacher concerning her doodles, Cheryl set off to Boston to view her perspective school.
