I feel that the LearnSmart is a very important resource to me, my success in this class and as I take the rest of my courses toward my degree. By taking the practice quizzes in LearnSmart, it is a great way to test your knowledge of the subject matter you were assigned. It was good for me to see the topics that I knew well and to see the subjects that I was not as familiar with immediately after answering the questions. I was then able to back and re-read the material until I was comfortable enough to take the practice quiz again. After reviewing My Success Plan last week, I knew how I liked to learn and study and what areas I needed to improve.…
The style of promoting members out of the faculty that is currently in place is the typical older promotion style of giving preference to incumbents of the institution who have been there the longest. This reliance on their proximity and involvement with the institution has become the downfall of many institutions, including our own university. Not all learning styles can fit into a specific situation, there are times when a kinesthetic style is better than an aural. By becoming proficient in all learning styles, I would become flexible in all learning situations. The student should be able to shift towards the professors teaching styles in addition to exceling in their learning environment. Now, I work the best with the aural, kinesthetic, and read/write learning styles, with the weakest like being the visual learning style. The guide has an array of different activities that could activate students quite well. However, it is in the assessment portion that seems to be the weakest. The guide does not include assessment tools; it only offers acquiring pages through the BLM’s and the icons. The guide does come with answer keys for the BLM’s which could possibly be used as an assessment strategy.
