Learn's Discourse

Learning is different for many people. For me, learning for learning's sake is the only way that children can actually push themselves to learn new information and find out what they love doing. Being able to learn at a young age in school is such an important trait to have. It allows students to be able to push themselves in the future to be able to do exceptional at their classwork and be able to find out what they love to do.

Our educational system is flawed in this way, we just don’t let children learn on their own time. In our educational system, we are set on a “social clock” of what children should be doing in each grade. This doesn’t make sense at all. Children all across the world learn at different paces and these social timings

    The discourse community I chose to study are the CNA’s (certified nurse assistant) at Marquis Shaw Mountain Nursing Home. What I have noticed in talking to my sister, Blais, (a CNA at Marquis) and CNA’s at other facilities is each nursing home has their own atmosphere and way of doing things, just like any discourse community.
