Why Chicken Breasts with ‘White Striping’ Must Not Be Consumed Chicken is becoming one of the most favorite types of meat in the US, so the farmers must increase their production. Literacy Narrative I did a lot of writing while I was in the tenth grade. The English teacher I had at the time was the best when it came down to writing. I did not have too much interest in writing at the time but Mrs. Perez changed that, she gave me a new perception on writing and how it can change society. Mrs. Perez would always recommend really good books, one of which was a book called “His Dark Materials”. This story is about a young girl and her allies, fight for the discover of a dark substance called the “Dust”.…

Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

Although my history as a writer is not very long, considering i am only fifteen, I believe it has definitely impacted the way I perceive writing and literature. The main pieces that stuck out to me are a creative writing assignment in first grade, a research paper in fourth grade, a creative writing assignment again in fourth grade, and personal writing piece I wrote in fourth grade, and a biography I wrote in 9th grade. Whether these pieces negatively or positively affected me I think they definitely affected the way I look at writing. The first writing piece I remember, that I liked, was in the first grade.…

Growing up as young child, I didn’t experience a whole lot of racism. The issue that I mainly dealt with was colorism which was very difficult for me in school and at home. The issue of colorism all started back in slavery when light skinned blacks received special treatment by being assigned to do housework while dark skinned blacks were assigned to work outside and do hard-labor tasks (Coard et al., 2001). Even during the abolition of slavery, light skin African Americans were managed in a high socioeconomic stratum than dark skin African Americans. African Americans who are dark skinned are very proud of their skin color while those who aren’t are likely to view their skin color as a “mark of oppression”…
