What Is The Five Learning Theories, Learning Styles, Andragogy And Multiple Intelligences?

For as long as I can remember,or what it seems to be forever, I’ve gone to class, studied for tests, taken tests, and maintained a job at a restaurant as server. I would go through all these daily routines and not think twice about why I was doing things a certain way, it just seemed like the natural way to do them. I didn’t sit in class and think to myself “ Oh, he’s a visual learner.” To me, it was just someone looking at a picture. It never crossed my mind that there was actual research reasoning behind something as simple as staring at a picture. But, after reading many articles about learning theories, learning styles, andragogy/pedagogy and multiple intelligences, it was clear that there was more than meets the eye.
The five learning theories, Behaviorist, Social, Cognitive, Psychodynamic and Humanistic learning is where it all begins. Although a learning theory is just how information is absorbed, processed, and retained, philosophers spent hundreds of years studying the different factors and variables that would make up and give clear explanations for each theory. Having strengths and weaknesses is what defines us as individuals. The eight intelligences that Howard gardner proposed in 1983 were Verbal-linguistic, Logical mathematical, Visual-Spatial, Musical, Naturalistic, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. According to a Edutopia they state that “It’s important to gather ongoing information about student strengths and challenges as well as their developing interests and activities they dislike.” While in a classroom setting you’re going to want to know the different types of intelligences you have. You need to base your plans around each of one of them so you can have the focus on all students and that way each of them can get the same learning
