Discuss an approach for applying the method in your own course: There are several ways to utilize the learning technique of retrieval practice via testing in a regular lecture-based classroom course. One of the most effective ways to utilize this powerful learning technique in a classroom setting is to ask the class important questions at the conclusion of each main point within a single lecture. For instance, a typical 50-minute lecture may contain four questions, and each question is presented immediately after the corresponding content is covered by the instructor. These questions should be carefully constructed so that they represent the key ideas of the lecture. In addition, this methodology allows the instructor to utilize the global feedback from the class to determine the effectiveness of their lecture in real-time and, if deemed necessary, to make any clarifications and/or corrections on the spot.
