Learning Connections Inventory

On the Learning Connections Inventory, my results were as follows:
1. Technical Reasoning – 29, Use First
2. Precision – 29, Use First
3. Sequence – 27, Use First
4. Confluence – 23, Use as Needed
Based on what I’ve learned in this chapter, these results put me in the learning patterns combination category as a “Strong-Willed Learner." A lot of the tendencies associated with each pattern resonated with me as something I’ve recognized in myself at some time. I’ve never really had a struggle using any type of learning method, and it’s always been really hard for me to identify which methods were easiest for me. Now, I know why. However, I also know that I have some bad learning habits and come across to others as condescending, or not easy to

I like to be right and I like correct information. My fiancé considers himself a well of information, and he likes to vocalize that information without fact-checking it first. He was telling my brother, Alex, and best friend, John, a story about these dolls that were supposedly mysteriously hung in a forest and that no one knew where they came from. This story spurred from an image in my copy of the Guinness Book of World Records. As he was talking, I read the paragraph beside the picture, stopped him, and clarified the situation. I stated the factual reasons the dolls were brought and left there, and my fiancé was visibly embarrassed. I’m probably more than a little annoying sometimes, but I fact check everybody and everything I think doesn’t seem quite …show more content…
I’m not completely uncomfortable with risk-taking and thinking outside the box, but I can definitely tell that it’s harder for me than the other patterns. I used to write poetry for a literary magazine at my previous college. An English teacher from grade school who gave me a particularly hard time also wrote for the magazine. The magazine held an award ceremony, and there were prizes to be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, as well as honorable mentions. Both the teachers and the students could compete for these, and a panel of English professors and students did the judging. To win this I had to think creatively and take a risk by writing something different than I’d written before. I got away from rhyme and my typical structure, and wrote something totally left field for me. I ended up winning first place in poetry that year, over that dreaded English teacher from my past (who won

I'm certainly not the person who wants the challenge I will seek help and should my technical reasoning just fail me completely I will once again seek help and or pass the task on if possible. I use my CONFLUENT as needed I do like doing things my way and at times I don't like to follow the rules because I may think my way is better but being the risk taker and having lack of structure and not doing things accordingly can ultimately set up for failure in some cases and I've learned that in my past by making those very mistakes and that's not a pattern I choose to be in the habit of. I've learned so much about my learning style in this chapter and it's basically things that I already knew about myself but wasn't able to articulate them properly. In a guided self-assessment of study habits and strategies, ED 3100 students have been challenged to embark on a journey of self-exploration in an effort to better understand our own learning processes, as well as determine how different methods of studying and learning may affect our overall success. Dr. Demars (2015) explains that exploration and knowledge of our own techniques and learning strategies will then empower us, as future educators, to facilitate the same attributes in our students. She emphasizes that the better we (as teachers) understand our own learning processes, the better we can understand those of our students, and consequently help them self-assess to achieve a better understanding of their own learning. Although this exploration has raised many questions for me, there were key themes that stood out amongst others. By constructing an unbiased system of measurement, I am experimenting with deliberate and strategic changes to my study habits that are explicitly designed to address and correct weaknesses in my current study habits that I will track over a period of four weeks.…

You have to put effort in your learning. Practice is basically training.…

According to the Learning Styles Inventory. My most developed and strongest learning styles are bodily-kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The test reveals that I am not highly developed in any particular type of intelligence and I am weak and underdeveloped in visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and naturalist intelligences. The book suggests that as a person with stronger interpersonal strengths, study strategies such as going over notes with fellow students are helpful. Based on my results as a strong verbal-linguistic individual, rewriting my notes in order to eliminate excess information and to hone into the important ideas, would be beneficial to my success in this course.…

I was homeschooled my whole childhood, and learned I learned to avoid writing because it would frustrate my mother whenever I made mistakes. She would make feel very unintelligent and inadequate because I was behind the curve in writing. When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…
