There are several reasons why I chose this student as my English Learner focus student. There are total of 34 students in the class, and all of the students are Reclassified as fluent English speaker or native speaker, except for this student. Three weeks into the school year, you notice that one of your eighth-grade students is consistently disengaged during lessons. She rarely answers questions, and when you call on her, she typically shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know. " Even when other students are engaged, you often find her listening to music, engaging in off-topic conversation, or putting her head down on her desk. Your assessments show that the student is well-below grade level in reading and mathematics. Answer both of the questions below, keeping each answer to about 150 words in…

Out of all 5 of my talents, Learner describes me the best. As cliché as it may sound, I really have a passion for learning. But my passion for learning extends far past just the usual sitting in class taking notes, or the usual memorization of subjects, instead it really reaches out to deeper depths where I really seek to master everything that is put into my head. I am not okay with only touching base on subjects or barely treading the surface of topics, rather I have to really dive into the text and pay close attention to all the details in order for me to grasp what is going on.…

So what exactly is a Self-Regulated Leaner? To be honest before I read the article about this for this class I wasn’t real sure. As I read the article I started connecting what I was reading to what I have seen a couple of times in some Special Education classroom and honestly thought it was kind of crazy. However, as I read more about this and heard the reasoning behind why these techniques are used and work, I now feel I have better understanding of what this whole topic is really about and how it works as well as why it works.…

In Matthew Sander’s book Becoming a Learner, many conventional ideas are challenged. These unconventional ideas tend to put the burden, or rather the opportunity as Matthew Sander’s argues, of learning onto the student rather than the teacher or learning institution, which is becoming a less and less popular idea in everyday U.S. society. Personally, through high school I had a similar approach, in large part because of the way my parents taught me, who happen to both be graduates of USU. So, their approach to teaching me to become a learner and not a passive student, as Mr. Sanders puts it, makes sense.…

Stakeholder needs and expectations not only directly influence learning goals, but also indirectly influence learning goals through the mission. AACSB requires input from various stakeholders when developing the mission; therefore, stakeholder needs (such as desired managerial competencies) will directly influence the mission and, in turn, indirectly influence learning goals. Learning goals are supposed to directly influence curricula. They have the strategic purpose of connecting elements of a school’s mission to its programmatic curricula content (Christensen, Judd, & Nichols, 2010; Legorreta, Kelley, & Sablynski, 2006; Martell, 2007; Stivers & Phillips, 2009). In both training and educational settings, the objective (or learning goal) is…

How can learning strategies help struggling students I think my topic is important because society should care about the future. Not only is my topic very effective for our youth but however it is also effective for our elders, these different learning strategies could really help them out with the struggle of them helping their children or even grandchildren trying to help them with their homework or at home projects. However coming up with different strategies could also be a big help for the students trying to actually learn in school but somehow are distracted or just don’t understand the material the teacher is providing.…
