They even made a film called “Lean On Me” which is recap of Eastside High school in Paterson, NJ. We have drug dealers and gang bangers across the street from the school. Students would often skip class to party or do drugs. The school tried their best to increase their graduation percentage. Many students were expelled or transferred. Metal detectors were installed, bigger fences, and a lot of security guards were hired. They came up with a better approach which succeeded in the end.
Should disobedient youths be suspended from school? Does this solution hurt or help?
I believe disobedient youths shouldn’t be suspended because they will fall behind in all of their classes. Being suspended would only make it worse because they would have more free time. My high school had in school suspension where students would spend the rest of the day in detention. Phones were collected as soon as you enter the room. The students would miss out on gym and would have lunch in detention. Assignments were to disobedient youths by their teachers, and they had until the end of the day to complete them. If their misbehavior continues then you would have in school suspension on Saturdays.
