Every year at my former high school, John B. Alexander, we would welcome the month of April as the month of League of Legends, where former students of our particular high school have graduated college and become accomplished and successful in their workplace, community, or statewide proficient. This event allows only ten former students with outstanding credentials to be recognized as legends for the high school. These ten individuals would be read a biography of their past high school years and the dreams they had and soon accomplished once they left for college. The League of Legends award is one of the most prestigious awards any high school graduate could receive; it acknowledges these individuals’ dreams that turned into goals, goals

Her countenance was attentive, like that of a professor lecturing upon their audience of students. The candidate next to me was anxious to read, palms sweaty, the shaking of his left leg continuously, and the slow low key mumbling of “your next”. A few minutes later, my name was called my hands and legs were shaking, my palms were sweating, swallowing constantly, and I just kept a smile as I was walking down to the podium to read the biography of one of the most highly distinguished doctors who practices here in Laredo, Texas. Trying to avoid the eye contact of the audience, and faculty it’s hard to believe how vulnerable I am now – reading the biography of an unknown strange woman, shaking her hand before she gives a warming speech sharing the memories, hopes, goals, dreams, and accomplishments she encountered as she entered for one of the last times to her alma mater.
Overall, after this experience of honor I have come to encounter the importance of public speaking and how it influences the audience and their perception of you as a student, individual and overall personality. When you speak publicly, it’s an important business skill to win over a crowd, or clients in a business meeting, to motivate the audience to do something, stop doing something, influencing behavior, etc. Hence, Public Speaking is a vital component in any successful
