Leading by example is a crucial part of creating a future of leaders who build confidence in themselves and others. As the future leaders of our family, community, and even our country, possessing leadership isn’t true leadership without taking the hard roads that come with it. In order to make the process of leading by example a reality, we must discover the true purpose of leadership, present ourselves as a role model through our character, and become inspired to lead through following other’s examples.

In order to lead others by examples we must first understand the purpose of leading by example. Leading not only inspires others to follow but teaches them to lead others as well. As the great political activist, Ralph Nadar, once put it, “The function of leadership is to produce more leaders; not more followers.” If one person can work to be a leader for the purpose of creating other leaders, we can make an impact in all situations whether it be leading your future household, your workplace, or your community. Leading by example is wholly based on character build. Doing the right thing even when no one is watching is the reality of what a leader does on a daily basis. Whether it be through loving unconditionally, or complimenting others, or simply getting along with opposing viewpoints, having good character is key to leading by example. Self confidence gives others a first expression on whether we are true leaders. Self confidence allows you to new things, be the first to break the status quo, and do what is right despite being the only one. Being a leader doesn’t mean that you have a lot of followers. Rather than, it can be the opposite at times. Leading by example requires standing up when no one else does. Speaking out even if our voice shakes. We are inspiring others to do the same in situations where they feel the need to stand up and speak out as
