For over six years Hamilton conducted his research, he collected data from seven sources in total. The data from the sources included monthly budgets, reports from local animal shelters, and information from meetings local animal organizations held. Hamilton also attended many local meetings and took field notes over that six-year period of time. Once he gained all the data he examined them and found a pattern in which he based his case study on. What I think could be wrong with some of the data is that it could not be a connection between the two different sources used. You would have to use various sources of data to find a correlation between the both of them. Yet Hamilton studied all possible sources to find a pattern within the multiple sources of data. Hamilton also acknowledges this at the end of his paper along with other possible mistakes or holes of his case …show more content…
I think the functional analysis aligns best with the article and explains many of the perspectives Hamilton was writing from. Our book describes society as many parts functioning together to achieve the goal of normal. This perspective can be shown throughout his paper even though he doesn’t directly address what the theory the paper is based on. I can tell this is functional analysis because of the way he examines how the community and local shelters are working together to solve the problem. “At this event, nine groups signed up to be part of the new No More Homeless Pets in Hillsborough County coalition, with the following stated goal: ‘To end euthanasia as the primary means of animal population control an enhance the quality of life for the dogs and cats in Hillsborough Country’” (Hamilton 280) The author of the article did not clearly state the what theory they were considering their research to be. Since they were mainly focusing on explaining the problem and analyzing data, the author wanted to spread awareness most of all. The article seems to be representing the functional analysis theory because it lists multiple groups and all their contributions to the problem. The author discusses some of their possible ways they can work together to end the problem addressed. This article seems to mainly highlight
