It is favorable considering that I have not been in a leadership position leading a large group or team. However, looking at the questionnaire, I would probably consider making changes on factors 2, 3, and 5 especially, on factor 5 (individualized consideration). Factor 5 deals with “helping others to develop their strengths,” which offers a very practical solution: “to try and listen more carefully, to coach individuals based on their actual needs” (Northouse, 2016, p. 169, para, 4). Although the survey may not be so accurate because of my situation, it does give me a sense of what I need to change and do in order to better my leadership style. In addition, this information could be very useful to consider when an opportunity arrives because I could probably distribute the forms to other coworkers to reevaluate myself to make the desirable changes. There is no doubt that the surveys and information in general, will definitely help me to develop unknown areas and strengthen others that could be useful to apply to my current job and my personal …show more content…

However, I do not feel or remember my parents granting me the ownership to assume that responsibility neither, which I believe is the right way to start, by delegating responsibilities from a higher authority, and make that authority valid through enforcement. In the line of work, my father has been an example of inspirations for achieving things through hard work , but I do not have a particular person that has profoundly influence me in such a way that I want to simile to that specific person, except Jesus. It may sound catastrophic, but in certain manner this may reflect just about what my personal life presently represents, a total chaos. I do have to give credit to my father though for being such a good example especially, when talking relatively about achievements. Thus, the attributes that immediately come to my mind regarding my father are self-reliance, honest, and dedicated. My father is a person that even though he does not speak English, he has manage himself to remain in the same job for almost thirty years, at the same time that he supports his family without having to rely much on public assistance. Leadership Style Self-Assessment 1 After taking the style questionnaire during while studying the Leadership Grid in Northouse; as expected, I found that my leadership style varies, although of the three theories discussed, more closely relates to team leadership. My assessment found my strengths to be with authority compliance (9,1) and team management (9,9). As suggested by Northouse (2012), “The 9,1 style of leadership places heavy emphasis on task and job requirements, and less emphasis on people, except to the extent that people are tools for getting the job done” (p. 79). The Team Management style is based on tasks and relationships. I consider myself more tasks orientated and analytical, while spending less time with my subordinates’ personal issues.…
