In acknowledgment, any work environment will be laden with many changes that are different based on the situations that present. Thus, there is the need to have a leadership style that moulds in with the changes that are occurring. This is where situational leadership comes about. By definition, situational leadership is defined as the relationship that ensues between leaders such that it is directive and supportive based on the follower’s behavior patterns (Giltinane, 2013). Thus, how exactly does situational leadership create a positive work environment? Rolfe (2011) writes that situational leadership is supportive and as a result creates constant communication while also offering emotional support on its followers. These kind of leadership has been seen to encourage followers since it is based on experiences that cause willingness to learn and take responsibility. Why is this? For the effective management of any healthcare organization, I recognize the need to be in touch with the followers. Through a transformational leadership approach, I will be able to motivate my followers to effect any changes that are needed in the healthcare sector. I prefer to be a transformational leader since I believe in the virtues that are emphasized by the theory. For example, the transformational leadership theory requires that its leaders be persons who are trustworthy, honest and active listeners to their followers (Weng, Huang, Chen, & Chang, 2015). These are all virtues and principles that I believe in and, thus, it only would make sense if I was a follower of the same.
