Recently, I have read some books about great leaders’ life, including, Jack Welch and Louis V. Gerstner, Jr.. From their stories, I find that leaders are made, not born.Nobody comes into the world a natural leader.A good leader means having the ability to influence, motivate, and enable their members of a group to achieve success in the organization(House et al.,2002).This essay will be structured in the following ways.Firstly, I will introduce the situational leadership theory. Secondly, I will discuss that leaders are made through working and learning some skills. Thirdly, I will give an example to support the view that leaders are made in a crisis situation. The essay will conclude that leaders are made, not born.
Situational leadership theory
Situational leadership theory was founded in Hersey and Blanchard(1969), they thought that leaders should be followed by the organizational environment, individual transformation then change leadership styles and management methods.
