Trait theories (1930’s-1940’s) which believes that different people are born with qualities such as, intelligence, sense of responsibility and creativity which helps to be a good leader. This theory helps to identify the characteristics or combination that seems to be common among leaders by analyzing their mental traits such as intelligence, physical traits such as, height and social traits such as personality characteristics. In extent, there were several problems with this theory. In 1930’s trait research was not concerned with theory, there was no explanation, no sufficient information for the intended relationship between leadership and individual characteristics as well as fails to explain the leadership failures. At last, early trait research found the relationship between leader traits and leader effectiveness was not considerable due to situational variables. Similarly, Behavioral theory is about creating and offering a new perspective which focus on leader’s behavior on their reverse to mental, physical and social characteristics.
