The Transformational is the most common form of leadership basically a motivator, Participative is teamwork based with team member responsibility and Laissez-faire is team work with trust. None of the results really surprised me. I always thought of myself as an innovator when it comes to leadership styles and how to get people and groups to be successful. My experience in the military molded me at a young age to always make the team’s success more important than my success. My success would come as a result of the team’s success. I lead with that as a primary incentive to my groups. What did surprise me what that the Participative style is the most common, I do not see this type of leadership much in my current business. I see more of the Authoritarian and Procedural styles, as my business is result driven it makes sense that the bottom line and completion is very important to the success of the company. That is a yes, take Mr. Steve Jobs as an example. Mr. Jobs was the CEO of the Apple Corporation. During the late 70’s and early 80’s the company was successful, this success was attributed to Mr. Jobs leadership style of Laissez-faire. In the mid 90’s the company was having difficulty and again this was partially attributed to Mr. Jobs becoming “ an autocratic leader, and Apple’s board of directors requested his resignation. When he returned to Apple more than 10 years later, Jobs combined several leadership styles and added democratic/participative to his repertoire. He hired other experienced leaders and entrusted them to excel” (Gill, 2014). By changing his style Mr. Jobs was not only able to improve the business, but he also successfully developed the future
