Collen Barret Leadership Style

There had been several leaders who had conduct tremendous improvement in leadership in the past years; however, Collen Barret is one of the most influential women of our generation, due to her hard work, dedication and servant leadership style. Ms. Barret managed to create and manage the most successful airline companies in US history. Collen Barret was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont in 1944. When Ms. Barret was a child she wanted to be a lawyer; however, she didn’t have the money to go to law school, but she managed to attend the Becker Junior College and graduated when she was 23 (1968). After she graduated from college, she went to work for a law firm as a legal secretary in San Antonio, Texas. While working for the law firm, Ms. Barret meets Rollin …show more content…
They began to work together, sometimes up to sixteen hours a day, in order to accomplish all details necessary to get the company up and running, she sacrificed many hours of her personal time in order to secure the success of Southwest airlines. Ms. Barret kept ties with Southwest airlines for several years; however, she joined the company in 1978 as a corporate secretary, due to her hard work and dedication. Collin Barret climbed quickly in the organization, until she became vice president of administration and then vice president of customers.
Collen Barret servant leadership style was one of the keys to her success; she believes in providing customers the best service possible, encouraged team work in the organization and kept his employees happy for the most part. Collen Barret was appointed as post president and COO in 2001 of Southwest airline; although, she was promoted few months before the terrorist
