STRAYER UNIVERSITY Header: Leadership Style at Applied Research Technologies, Inc. 1. Determine the leadership style that Peter Vyas exhibited as he considered the group’s proposal and provide examples of his behavior. As a general manager of the Filtration Unit of Applied Research Technologies (ART), Peter Vyas notices that his teamwork had worked hard diligently to get his project on the right track successfully. The goal of his plan is to reconstruct a mini water-oxidation product. In spite of having two failures to reach the outcomes of this plan over past three years, his team still has good potential to make their goal happens. He never loses his strong interest and enthusiasm, even when his credibility is in jeopardy after two failures. He has an opportunity to get more experience and more knowledge after the failed attempts, so in this case the leadership style of Peter Vyas mainly concentrates Consultative behavior because Peter Vyas believes that if he supports the proposal and his team effort, so he has great chance to bring back his team credibility and enhances his prestige. In this approach, he needs to motivate his colleagues to identify the problems and figure out the solution. For instance, after reviewing the technology, Vyas encourages his evaluation team to follow up the project. Also, working with closely with ITC technologies, gives his team great potential that the oxidation technology has significant impact on the millions of people. His supportive behavior provides an opportunity to recruit and retain good workers to his unit. He also shows himself an energizer and motivator to his unit in order to improve the team’s execution effectively and efficiently. Not only he has strong emphasis on his task based upon the cultures and practices, but he also is willing to understand the business opportunity and cooperate with marketing management of the HVAC division, Janice Wagner, to utilize marketing techniques in order to advertise the product in the marketplace. The power of behaving as supportive project leader depends on my personality type and my capability to innovate incentives to create impact on my team-members impressively. For instance, I deliver my response to this proposal by working very closely to my group project to share my suggestions and ideas with them and spur their efforts by offering incentives such as bonus, more vacation time; etc, after the project gets accomplished. Additionally, functional communication among our colleagues helps to recognize the ideas and thoughts. My team deserves to acknowledge my respond to this proposal with appropriate attitude and behavior. Since, the culture of innovative has great impact on the success of the company; my respond to the proposal willingly endorses new schemes and strategies and gives my team members an opportunity to present their creative feedbacks. In this matter, I recommend individuals to challenge themselves and inspire them to show their creativity. For instance, I challenge engineers and …show more content…
Her behavior showed as participative behavior during each project. For example, she encourages me to focus on all the tasks scheduled at Monday morning meeting. She also tried to strengthen my confidence to accelerate my performance. Sometime Marivic and I had discussions in regard with installation and programming the products in private meeting. Her endorsement attitude not only significantly influences my performance, but it also spurs me to expertise my tasks at the workplace. For example, she recommended me to work closely with our programmer specialist to develop my programming and learn to program the cameras in the
