Leadership: Self-Analysis and Development Plan As Christian leader, my goal is to use Biblical principles to guide my servant leadership relationship with followers and associates. My success, as a leader, is predicated upon following the Holy Spirit along with creating and sharing common goals with followers. Also, success as a Christian leader will not be an accident, but rather the result of a carefully crafted leadership development plan that systematically addresses leadership behaviors and spiritual gifts. This plan will also use self-assessments to guide me in understanding who I am as a Christian leader while performing a close examination of how I incorporate Biblical principles in my leadership practice. An assessment of my personal …show more content…
Nothing spells strength like the fellowship with other Christians! 1 John 1:7 states when “we walk in the [knowledge] of God, we have fellowship with one another, [which gives us strength].” Because we are members of the Body of Christ, we can find strength and encouragement. When we isolate ourselves are we at our weakest. As a Spirit-filled believer, leader and Christian coach, with permission, I encourage followers and clients to participate in corporate fellowship and worship. Also, as a coaching leader, when I fellowship with followers, it creates a stronger relationship because followers know they can approach me with anything.
Studying the Word. Studying is the prelude to acting, which brings clarity, confidence understanding. Luke 6:39b stated, “Can a blind person guide a blind person?” Blindness goes to the heart of ability to lead, that is to say, studying the Word illuminates one's path which prevents them from falling and injuring themselves and others. When I study the Word of God, it becomes a roadmap for my leadership thoughts, actions, and passions; thus, when I interact with followers and other leaders, I feel equipped and empowered to lead. However, prayer is the key to understanding the Word and much

Cousins states, “To counter those heresies, he urges pastors to return to the biblical concept of leadership and experience a leadershift, a concept of “equipping others, using the gifts God has given you.” William Caldwell also states, “A good administrator is not one who does it all, so that it will be done right, but one who allows others to use their gifts, even if it is not done exactly right.” We do this through performance standards. In Matthew it states, “His Master replied, well done, good and faithful servant!…

In this leadership development plan, I will describe how the three leadership areas I selected in Module One (Adapting to critique and transformation, presentation and communication, and influence upon others and providing feedback) will be improved by Model the way and Inspire a shared vision practices. In addition, this paper will also analyze how the contingency leadership theory will improve the leadership areas I have selected in Module One (listed above). The improvement of these leadership areas with the first two practices of exemplary leadership is essential to any leader, and all three must be improved together, as any leader must be able to give criticism as well as take it, traits which are assisted by learning to communicate your thoughts more efficiently.…

Charismatic Service: A Leadership Philosophy At the heart of any worthwhile leadership is a genuine concern for the well-being of those who are being led. Although this statement is true for any leadership style to be sustainably effective, it is particularly necessary for my personal philosophy when considering my values, beliefs and worldview. As a Reformed Christian and educational leader, the words of 1 Peter 4:10 express, very succinctly, the rule that characterizes my approach to leadership.…

Grooming Leaders Discussion According to Smith (1992), “The church has a higher potential for growth if the pastor is a leader more than he is an administrator. A leader, as the next pair of labels indicates, is a visionary; while an administrator is an implementer of someone else’s vision. A church growth pastor is a goal-setter; less growth potential is predicted for a pastor with the self-image of an “enabler”, who encourages the lay people to set the goals. To use an industrial model, the pastor who tends to be more a manager type than a foreman type will enhance the growth possibilities for the church” (p. 98).…

The concept that I found most important from module 6 came from leader influence and was labeled leadership styles. In this section it talked about different leadership styles and when to use them. I found this to be important because a leader that is fluid and will adjust styles depending on the situation, can be very effective. It’s important for a leader to be able to recognize what the climate of a situation, team, or work center is, in order to motivate them towards a common goal. In my opinion, a leader that cannot adapt their leadership style accordingly will eventually erode trust and unity amongst peers and subordinates.…

Compare & Contrast Leadership Styles In our text, Leadership is defined as “An area of study marked by the examination of the behaviors of others” (p.378). After reading about the three styles of leadership which are transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, I instantly thought about a scripture which says “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2-3, New International Version). Before I start uncovering the similarities between theses three leadership styles, I’m going begin by defining…

Introduction to Leading and Crisis “The person who is fulfilling a leadership responsibility has authority and exerts influence over others” (Satterlee, 2013, p. 102). Any resilient leader will encounter crisis but it will be their responsibility to handle that crisis and lead through it. Some people feel that because crises are unpredictable, it is impossible to prepare for them. However, “A leader, who is able to read the signals of looming crisis and understands how to harness the exigency brought on by the situation, can diminish the potential dangers and take full advantage of the resulting opportunities” (Prewitt & Weil, 2014, para. 1).…

The job of a principal in any academic setting is a monumental task as students, curriculum, parents, teachers, faculty, legal issues, etc., all vie for guidance and attention. But I believe that the job of a Catholic school leader entails far more because I believe the profession of Catholic school leader is a vocation rooted in Christ. My role as a Catholic school principal is one of managerial leader, educational leader and most importantly as spiritual leader. It is my job to nurture a faith community that is built with relational trust and where my school can be transformed into a sacred place (Sergiovanni, 2015, p.12).…
