The best advice that I could give to my coworkers regarding leadership in today’s workplace, I believe it would be talking about the importance social awareness and relationship management because they are the key factors that will help leaders address many situations. Social awareness will help with empathy, understanding of others emotions and perspectives, and to influence and inspire team members. Participating in this leadership course was essential for my nursing career and my personal life as well. Knowing that you don’t need to have a position to be leader, it made a very difference in my point of view concerning leadership. Learning about the importance of self awareness, communication skills, delegation, conflict management and other topics improved my knowledge and my leadership skills. Moreover, knowing that I leader must incentive the team to have the same vision and must influence them to achieve its goal, it showed me that leadership is not just about authority by is about team work. Not assuming about facts and actually assessing the facts is another point that I am improving. Constantly self-evaluation is a principal that I am actually put in practice because self-evaluation leads to self-awareness and better leadership skills. Increasing my cultural awareness is another important change in my leadership style as a result of this class. Being proactive during conflicts and working together with my team for a resolution of the problems is essential for the growth of the group and the organization in general.
