If one were to research the word leadership, the definitions would be endless. According to the text, “Leadership is an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purpose” (Daft, R., & Lane, P, 2015).Whereas, according to Forbes the definition of leadership is to have the progression of social influence, maximizing others efforts, influencing others towards attaining a goal (Kruse, 2013). A leader should be one who aspires to greatness through his actions, words, and spirit. A true leader will not impose his views, directions, and values upon individuals with force, people will voluntary follow.
Leadership is not a title, power, authority, or position, but rather a style with many paths that lead to success in influencing and leading others (Kruse, 2013). This nation comes from many great leaders such as, George Washington who made this country possible, President Abraham Lincoln, who freed the slaves, and Martin Luther King who fought for equality among all races. In today’s day and age, such leaders are few and far between. Many are in the position or job for personal gain and ambition.
The person whom I admire and see as a leader is a gentleman who has a gift of spiritual leadership. His name is Doctor John Maxwell. He is a world renowned speaker, author, and pastor. In…
