Leadership Philosophy Statement

A leader is someone who uses their power for the good of others. They use leadership to show all of the leaders within a group. The entire freshmen class are leaders, some people just need their leadership to be brought out. A leader’s impact should not only remain when they are present, but it should last long after their absence. The word “leadership” should not be used as a title or adjective; the word “leadership” should be used as a constant action of helping others. The example set by a leader influences the audience very deeply. The leader has so much trust that anything he or she does is looked at with great respect. People look up to leaders as role models and aspire to be like them because of the lasting impact they make.
In my mind I have felt like I have always been a leader. I always take the extra step to lead in a group project, during a game, and at home. I hope to be able to convey my leadership as the class president. I want to be able to show all of the students who are leaders in the class of 2020. School only started two months ago, but I can already see the personalities of each of my classmates. I feel I know who each person is even though I am not connected with them on a very personal level. I desire to use my leadership on a professional level to help my class grow.

Central Catholic does offer many service activities; however, to help in a service project as a freshmen class will allow the students to interact together while helping the community. There are a lot of different projects we could do but I have found a great interest in The Coco Foundation. This foundation runs many of its own events but as a group we can raise money and donate to this charity. One way to raise money that is easy and fun is a car wash. Students can sign up for times during the day to come and wash the cars. The money raised at the end can go to The Coco

Leadership: Never been on a team leader. In group projects I’m usually the guy who thinks about all the good ideas, but they get shot down by the other group members because of time constraints, the amount of materials needed, etc. I don’t have any leadership skills. I would love to become a really good leader, but that requires a stern voice and never cracking a smile so that’s out of the picture.…

To many people, leadership always seems as a delicate and complicated concept. This is a contributing factor to why many people in today’s society consciously choose to fall back and follow rather than put themselves on the line and decide to take charge. Personally, I see being a leader as relatively simple; for me, leading is all about connecting and forging bonds with those that you wish hold you as trustworthy. Upon building these relationships, a leader must take action to identify and properly employ their subordinates’ skills. As a 1/C, I wish to only refine my ideas by using what I will have learned working with different types of people under me.…

I am currently secretary of my school’s chemistry club, and so naturally there is a chance I will hold a vice-president or the president position next year; younger and less experienced newer members of the club will look up to me for guidance and I must assume that responsibility. Additionally, my involvement in my school’s chapter of National Honors Society (NHS) has led to a plan on trying out for a leadership position for the next school year. The Southwest Leadership Conference will aid me in that holding such leadership positions will not be as stressful and that I will be a better fit for those roles. Outside of clubs, even in the normal classroom environment, being a more well-rounded individual and role model will aid in being able to participate and help others in the classroom.…

“Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader… they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role – always about the goal.” We’ve all heard about the preeminent political figurehead – the father of our nation – Gandhi who’s most endearing qualities were his insistence to always tell the truth, his disciplined way of life, his humility and his passion, who inspired millions through his non-violent protests for Indian self-determination and independence, fighting against the growing corruption, nepotism and terrorism; Saint Mother Teresa, the Roman Catholic nun and a symbol of charitable, selfless work who devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world; Martin Luther King – a nonviolent civil rights leader’s inspiring dream to achieve greater equality within the United States by participating in peaceful demonstrations that protested the unjust treatment of the African Americans back then. In today’s society, leadership is defined as many different things to many different individuals. For some, a leader is the person that runs our country. For others, leadership can simply be displayed in someone that takes responsibility and guides their peers in a classroom. Personally, I believe that a leader is someone who uses their own experiences to benefit those around them and simultaneously acquire new skills from others. During my time as an IUPUI Jaguar, I’m eager to develop new leadership skills and expand upon the ones I currently posses as I learn from fellow students.…

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision possessed by an individual into reality. Leaders are those who empowers other, give other people the chance they want, give them multiple opportunities to reveal their potential. This definition of mine includes ‘others’ and empowerment is a good thing, as it has a positive connotation. Leadership has nothing to do with one’s position in a hierarchy or with seniority; leadership is the ability which can be seen in a regular student of college or university. It has nothing to do with the titles; you can be a leader in your place of worship, in your family, in your neighborhood, all without having any title.…
