Regards to healthcare would have to be my Stepmother Dr. Christine Mckimmie. We all view leaders we would want to be like for different reasons. There is not one person I feel I could idolize in every way, but idolize my stepmother for her ability to apply her self in educational situations. I came from a family where no one had went to college so her presence and insight was quite different aspect for me to have around since we were considered a blue collar family. When asked how she became a leader this was something that developed over time. She explains in terms of application to the healthcare that “It was not done over time especially in the medical field there is always someone else you are learning from.” From this question we gathered that leadership is a life learning process, which requires experience, education, and time to achieve. We had also spoken about how leadership can be interpreted or changed based off the role within an organization. Dr. Mckimmie had started working for Pearle Vision in 2000 and at that time my Grandparents were the owners of this franchise and several others. Dr.Mckimmie had said “There were many different styles of leadership I have seen, but all great leadership styles stem from the basis of the respect from employee to the supervisor and vice versa.” I had a agreed with this as well reflecting on my leaders that they had all had in-depth experience and knowledge; as well as shown a mutual respect and understanding to my needs as I had for theirs.
