1. Introduction/Background
In this assignment, I will be describing the transformational and transactional leadership behaviours, which supports the success to the safety program in my current workplace. I now work for a company by the name of “All Weather Windows Commercial Ltd”. I’ve been hired on as the Health and Safety Advisor and been employed under this role for over 3 years now. This company is a team of glazing professionals that provides both manufacturing and installation services across western Canada. Safety is highly valued by all levels of the company and our aim is to continually improve the safety culture.

is an organization that heavily relies on employees’ compliance to meet safety expectations. Throughout the year, employees are reminded of the Health and Safety rules and regulations through safety meetings. On a daily basis, it is monitored through leaders who use active management to make sure all workers understand their roles and responsibilities. Resources such as financial budgets, equipment, and training is provided to make sure competency of each leader and worker. If a worker or leader refuses to comply with the safety program, this will lead to disciplinary consequences depending on the severity of the safety violation. Transformational Leadership Approach
With the market becoming more competitive and the safety standards rising, this organization is committed to continuously improve the program. Each year, this organization would do an audit on the current program to decide what action plan is needed for the future. This plan creates a shared vision for both workers and leaders of the projected results. It is then expected that the performance grade of the audit improves each year to challenge the previous year.
The leaders of this organization educate their employees on safety issues and awareness. This approach opens up the employees eyes to the importance of safety and increases their values towards the program. But most importantly, the leaders lead by example through their response to the program. Each day, the workers witness the leaders following the safety program which influences them to conduct themselves the same way.
