Actor Denzel Washington plays the new head coach, coach Boone in the movie. As the head coach, he helped shape the character of young athletes and unite a divided community. Strong leadership was a key factor in the team's success. Coach Boone pushed for the team to give it their all, and do as well as they possibly could. Even if they portray racism and selfishness, there is an underlying life lesson to be learned. There is a scene in this movie where Coach Boone takes the team on a long run in the middle of the night to arrive at an cemetary where he than states, “Anybody know what this place is? This is Gettysburg. This is where they fought the Battle of Gettysburg. Fifty thousand men died right here on this field, fighting the same fight
