The William Golding’s novel “Lord of the Flies” portrayed a story that took place during a nuclear war. A plane full of boys crashed on an deserted island and have to survive on their own. The book presented how their civilization and social organization gradually regressed into savagery and a primitive state. Two completely contradictory leaders were shown in the novel : Ralph and Jack. Ralph led by reason, while Jack led by fear. Due to how Ralph remained civilized and intelligent on the island, how he felt responsible for the rest of the group, and how he focused on fire and rescue, he is a better leader than Jack.
