Leadership Experience Analysis

Improved Essays

I am part of a team that leads the congregation in song. As a lover of music, and a pious christian, this is a particularly salient aspect of my life. By leading through song, I have the opportunity to share the gift of music, worship God in a unique way, and be a leader of people through my strongly entrenched beliefs, which is exceedingly important to me. In addition to being a worship leader, I also am a co-coordinator of my church's youth group events. I assist my youth pastor in planning activities, such as community service opportunities and fellowship …show more content…
It is essential that I help people in need, because my family has experienced major setbacks and we know how difficult life can be. Because of this, I thoroughly enjoy going on mission trips with my church, which encompass several leadership elements. By simply being present and working diligently, one is already leading by example, which is especially crucial for younger participants to perceive. Other leadership roles I fill include being a worship leader, devotion leader, and crew organizer (keeping my group on task and making sure everyone has a job to do). Aside from church related experiences, I have acted as a co-section leader in my orchestra. I invest an abundance of time into music, and into cello performance specifically, and it has paid off. I have advanced from being last chair in the lower orchestra when I started to learn the cello freshman year, to second chair of the top orchestra by the beginning of senior year. I want to be a Link Crew Leader because I would love to be able to mentor freshman as my previous Link Crew Leaders did to me. I also feel that becoming a Link Crew Leader would not only allow me to help shape freshman to become better people but to help me become a better person myself. I have been both a volunteer at a summer program for first and second graders and an assistant coach for the special needs program at Alta Loma Little League. At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. This leadership position not only taught me how to actively communicate with people who learn in different ways, but also taught me to become a stronger leader.…

A leadership role I took on at school was Link Crew. In Link Crew I got to work with the upcoming freshman these past two years. One of my jobs was during freshman orientation when I taught the freshman the basic survival guide to high school. One moment that stands out to me most is when I helped a freshman overcome his fear of not being good enough for high school. He felt that he was not going to fit in because he was academically challenged.…

My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…
