Reflection Paper #2: Leadership Charged
Community to me is a group of individuals that share a common interest. In a community often times the members live relatively close to each other and meet regularly because of their shared interest. People within a community must have interaction for a community to exist. Sometimes the interactions between members of a group is not significant but it is crucial for the development of a community. A community can be anything from a the homeless community a LGBT community. A good analogy for a community can be thought of as a bunch of interconnected circles and what’s in a circle is community and what’s outside a circle is not community. I believe the First Look Fair was very beneficial to all students because it helps us find other students with common interests. I know often times at community college students just go to class and then go home and do not stick around. The event had more than 500 student clubs and organizations so there is no way that you cant find at least one club or organization that will help you access people with common interests. I joined the American Society for Mechanical Engineers which is a great opportunity for me to connect with other mechanical engineering majors to study. This club also provides workshops and social events to help create a community among the mechanical engineering majors. Another club I am a part of is street soccer which is really fun because it helps me be active and build a relationships with people who share the common interest of soccer.
