To this day, one of the greatest presidential leaders goes by the name of Abraham Lincoln. Throughout his lifetime and his presidency, he accomplished a great that would influence the lives of his citizens greatly. It was through Lincoln’s leadership qualities and characteristics that allowed him to become such an effective leader. Abraham Lincoln knew what was best for his country and it was this talent that enabled him to produce such a large impact for his citizens. 3.

One of his greatest strengths was listening. Lincoln was able to listen to others’ ideas, which allowed him to gain the trust and respect of the citizens, as well as allow him to work well with other government offices. Not only was Lincoln a good listener, but he was able to jump into action quickly. He knew what his duties were and he adjusted to his role as president well. Lincoln was able to get to this point because of his love of knowledge and his ability and dedication to teaching himself. One could say that Abraham Lincoln’s greatest strength was his ability to teach himself and his perseverance. He never gave up even when the odds were against him. Coming from a rural area, the only knowledge Lincoln had was the knowledge he taught himself. He was able to use this knowledge to become one of the most successful presidents. Most importantly, Lincoln had the passion, the drive, and the goals needed to create a better place for each person regardless of culture or race. Lincoln was a highly determined man who persevered and made his goals a reality. He had a “never give up” attitude that inspires my career today. I can apply this attitude to testing for the fire service. No matter how many tests I take and no matter how many wait lists I am on, nothing will stop me from achieving my goal. I will not give up until I receive a position on a fire department. In addition, Lincoln was passionate about protecting and saving the lives of his citizens.
