Leadership plays an important role in all organizations. In this role, leaders can influence, inspire, motivate and direct activities in such a way that the organization or groups can achieve the goals set. One organization that has experienced this leadership change is Apple Inc. The Apple Computer company was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak. A year later after its development Apple Computer was renamed Apple Incorporated. Apple Incorporated is a multinational technology company that is headquartered in Cupertino, California. The organization designs, develops, and sells electronics, computer software and online services to consumers all over the world. Over the past few decades Apple has become the second largest informational technology company with a revenue of over $182 billion dollars. Along with the successes of Apple, there were also major issues that arose. These issues were significant as it pertained to the business practices, as well as the lack of attention needed in areas that were suffering. This essay will attempt …show more content…
Second, Apples internet services were less than adequate, having to take the services offline in order to update features. According to Patrick Gibson, a former engineer of Apple, states “almost everything that Apple does that involves the Internet is a mess” (Blodget, 2012). Apples felt it was in the best interest of the company to invest in small business that could be integrated more easily than larger companies. Lastly, the issue of awareness is present as Apple according to Epstein, Apple’s culture is tremendously secretive, although they acquired the talent necessary to be successful, the DNA of the company is working in silence away from the eyes of others”
