Circumstances of a ministry can greatly impact the health of an organization and its success. The circumstances can also heavily impact the morale and emotional stability of a leader. There are ideal circumstances and then there are the actual circumstances. The ideal are those that the leader performs the best in. The actual are the circumstances the leader is currently dealing with now. I took both of the audits for ideal and current circumstances. It was interesting and encouraging to see that they mirrored one other almost perfectly. My ideal setting is in a church that is already established with a large congregation. My giftings and my desires lean towards church staff management and leadership. I enjoy the aspects of leadership that come with …show more content…
After evaluation of myself through the audits and the Bible, I feel I am well on my way to being an authentic Christian leader. Leadership is more than a title or a position. It is a lifestyle that is in need of continual development. I do not think I will ever actually “arrive.” There will always be particular areas of my leadership life that I can improve upon. Of all of the audits in part two, I feel the two most important things I can do to improve revolve around my leadership style. With me being an analytical leader, I must first remain cognitive of lack of people skills that I may have. Inspiration is not my strong point, but I still must function and even thrive in the relational side of ministry in order to have success. One of the ways I can do this by structuring this side of my life. Force my self to write a certain amount of cards of encouragement per week. I can force myself to congratulate individuals upon each and every accomplishment they may

    1. After reflecting on who or what event provided me with leadership influence I concluded there wasn’t one person or one event that has had the most effect on me to strive to become a better leader or person for that matter. Many of my past supervisors and present alike have been good and bad with more good than bad. I attempt to take pieces from each of their leadership qualities, use things I liked and stayed away from their “bad” leadership qualities I did not believe helped me grow as a leader or produce quality jobs or mission results. All the while, my own personality and beliefs intertwined with their leadership styles to make me who I am today as a leader.…

Douglas Fagerstrom has it right when he states in his book, “The ministry staff member,” “You only have one chance to make a first impression, often an impression is the mold to which others will conform.” As staff members it is imperative that our performance is at a standard worthy of following. Paul in 1 Corinthians encouraged believers to “follow my example, as I follow Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1 NIV). Our goal should be clear.…

Summary In their book "Liberating Ministry from the Success Syndrome" authors Kent and Barbara Hughes offer insight to anyone currently involves with or contemplating involvement with church ministry. In the introduction, the husband and wife team tell a story of a pastor that gave into failure and left full-time ministry (Hughes 1987, 9-13). This confusion of success and failure in regards to ministry effects many every day. The team explains that they too almost fell victim to overwhelming feelings of failure in their ministry and their subsequent conquering of these feelings through the truth in God 's word.…

I strive to be that leader. A leader gains the responsibility to overcome harsh criticisms not only pertaining to themselves but also to not criticize others working with them. A leader is one "who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and short coming". The credit belongs to the person who is up in front of others in an attempt to help them. Everyday, slowly but surely, I climb my way up the mountain of success in hopes that one day I can be a prime…

When looking at my leadership style now and thinking about what kind of leader I hope to be, I feel as though I definitely have some room for improvement. I think I succeed at having empathy for others and the ability to listen to other people’s opinions very well. However, I need to work on being firmer and less passive when it comes to my opinions and how I think problems should be handled. I want to become more of an aggressive leader when it comes to how others perceive me. It has become evident to me that my sympathy for others can come across as a negative aspect as a leader rather than an advantage.…

The aspect of leadership that I need to focus most on improving is that of having the ability to balance work, school, and time with my family. I find that a great deal of the time I spend at home is spent working on schoolwork. This unbalance takes away from time that I should be spending with my husband and children and often leaves me feeling overwhelmed. Many people have the tendency to procrastinate on projects, and find them having to rush to do these tasks at the last minute. A big part of my problem is feeling that I need to complete assignments as soon as they are given.…
