Leadership Assessment
If you could be a great leader, would you rather be Napoleon, Nelson Mandela, or Mahatma Gandhi? If you were a follower, which one of these leaders would you rather follow? There are few people who may not recognize Napoleon, Mandela, or Gandhi. To most, these men represent leadership, determination, and unbreakable will to fulfill a vision. Regardless of the outcome of their life-long mission, each of these leaders left behind a legacy; and each represented varying leadership styles we may admire, study, and wish to follow.

I recently completed an assessment entitled “How to Find Out Your Style of Leadership” (University of Kent, http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/sk/leadership.htm#styles). The website suggested answering questions as if the students were managers, rather than students. As a result, my answers placed my

While I continue to be humbled by his accomplishments, if I were to become a leader, I would use Mr. Mandela’s style as a cornerstone of my own individual style that is yet to develop
Democratic leadership is best used in instances where the leaders want to encourage individual responsibility for each of the team members.
