I am currently in a leadership role in the Law Enforcement Division and exercise leadership characteristics on a day-to-day basis. As a supervisor, I mentor employees in key survival skills, investigative methods, taking statements and analysis, surveillance techniques, tactical operational planning and firearms skills. I’m adept at assessing individual’s strengths and weaknesses and tailor my mentorship to help them achieve success. In addition, I analyze team matrixes to ensure individuals use their skills and abilities to make the unit operate efficiently and achieve the goals of the agency. I treat each situation and individual with the utmost respect and dignity. I have the ability to relate with all walks of life and easily build rapport with individuals, which enables me to obtain information. I’m easy to communicate with and listen to input and value others opinions.

I have worked extensively to ensure co-workers know I work with integrity, and that I am trustworthy and respectful of personal feelings. My ethical standards and ability to understand issues, leads many co-workers to confide personal and sensitive information to me. I’m able to give advice and assist others with finding pathways to resolve issues without causing drama. This skill leads to many personal relationships that build a foundation for success within our agency. Trust is built in the relationships we develop with interpersonal skills.

A recent example of my interpersonal skills is the forming of our peer support team. Not only am I a leader for this team, but also a peer. This allows me to help fellow officers struggling with different stressors associated with our profession. I have been able to not only help some of our personnel, but others from other law enforcement
