For example, in my former school in Nigeria, we used to have inter-medical schools quiz competition and debate where the best among the students would be selected to face other schools. Then, the school authority would choose students randomly without proper knowledge whether these students were ready or motivated for the task. I foresaw a situation when students will lose interests in doing this because there was no structure to keep the momentum alive. As the captain of my class, I started quiz competition within my class by dividing the class into two different groups. This creative idea infused energy into the class, and my colleagues were always looking for the competition. Due to the fact that this idea had been tested and appeared successful with positive outcomes from my colleagues, I decided to extend the competition to other classes, by allowing professors to set questions and chair the competition. This idea did not only create healthy competition among students, it also helped them to pass successfully, and motivating them to participate in inter-school quiz competition.
